As Joseph and I were watching 60 minutes on Sunday March 9, We were so excited, intrigued and very emotional at what we were seeing. I couldn’t wait for my mum and dad to watch their recording of it and we got Joseph’s parents to view it online as we knew this needed to be pursued.
Kristy Cruise is Moving Mountains to defeat MS. Kristy allowed 60 minutes to follow her journey to Russia to have HSCT in hope that she could let other MSers like myself know there is hope out there to stop MS and she is living proof of this. Another goal was to prove we needed Australia to get on board to offer this treatment here. This treatment was something I would do but I was worried about RUSSIA?!! So much so, one day we were discussing it and I was hesitant about enquiring with Moscow when Bianca (4) picked up on my vibes and to reassure me, my beautiful daughter said “RUSSIA IS BEAUTIFUL MUM!” and I knew at that point that this statement would be my mantra and help get me through.
The more Joseph and I talked about it and researched it, the more I knew I had to find out more. I enquired about the trial happening at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney but felt discouraged when I read the inclusion criteria. I didn’t exactly meet it so I built up the courage and emailed the Clinic in Moscow on 19 March and was accepted on the 21st!!! I was accepted with two emails, one asking what I needed to do to apply and the other sending him all my clinical details and it was as easy as that!! OMG I’m going to Russia!!
I have found plenty support through some Facebook forums and blogs and sites on the net. This is really a no brainer for me, the idea of stopping the MS like all the people who have shown me the way, feels so right!!!!!
